In his early twenties, Brandon Van Hook followed in the footsteps of his successful father working in the newspaper business. The career path had been good to his dad however media was changing and taking a toll on the print industry. The struggle began affecting the company he was working for and he witnessed countless layoffs. Rumors began to surface that his home office was going to close and he might be out of a job.

 

After many years in media, he took a huge leap of faith and decided to reopen Shirley & Darrell Pritchett’s beloved restaurant located in Semmes. On September 9, 2009 the doors of The Hickory Pit Too reopened to folks lined up ready to support Brandon. The Pritchett family planned to dine with him that night nevertheless they ended up pitching in waiting tables and helping serve the crowd. It was their last time to work together as a family and they loved it!

 

By the way, less than 60 days later the corporation Brandon worked for closed his former office and everyone was laid off.
